2005 Detroit Auto Show: New Car Reviews Honda
enters the Truck Market with the Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline
Everyone knows that the Ford F-150 is the number one selling truck in America. Honda decided that they wanted a piece of the pie and they have entered the truck sector. The Ridgeline is the first ever truck by the Honda automobile company. It will be in dealers by March 2005 with the 2006 model. It comes with a fully automatic four-wheel drive system for the best handling around. Dick Colliver is the Executive Vice President of American Honda Motor Co. Inc. He said, "The truck market is evolving and we think Ridgeline is at the leading edge of the trend." Mr. Colliver added, "The Honda Ridgeline delivers all the capabilities of a truck with none of the traditional truck trade-offs. It combines Honda innovation, Honda engineering and Honda's commitment to environmental and safety leadership in a next generation truck package." The tailgate on this truck has two modes. It can open down like normal or it can open like a door and swing out. The Ridgeline comes with a 3.5-liter VTEC V-6 engine. It has the capability to tow up to 5,000 pounds. When you add a trailer hitch, your ready to go. It can seat up to five passengers in the front. The Ridgeline will be producted in Ontario, Canada. I think it will be tough for Honda to beat the Ford F-150. The F-150 has such a superior reputation for being the best.
