2006 NAIAS :: Reviews and Interviews Volvo debuts the new C70 convertible
PHOTO BY JASON RZUCIDLO / AMERICAJR.com This is the all-new Volvo C70 production model.
This car is new this year and comes in a convertible with a 3-part hard top which folds into the trunk. The mechanical way it folds is something to see. With the touch of a button, you can go from open air to a hard top over your head. The Volvo C70 gets 18 mpg (miles per gallon) in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. It comes with two airbags in the door. It has 5 cylinders and can be purchased in a 5-speed manual or automatic with an optional geartronic. There are two types of engines that you can choose from. There is the high-pressure turbo petrol engine or the light-pressure turbo petrol engine. The new convertible will replace the previous sedan by the same name. It comes with a three-piece retractable metal hardtop instead of a soft convertible top. It can be raised or lowered in under 30 seconds. It is amazing to watch it go from open air to a hard top. The C70 will come in three models. You can choose from the Sport, SE or the SE Lux. It comes with little windshield wipers for the front lights. All seats come with head restraints. There is also a park assist in the front and rear. There is a display for the outdoor temperature. All of the seats are ergonomically designed. This vehicle comes in two doors only. This car is made in Sweden and Belgium. The cost starts at $38,710 or $42,000 for an automatic model. It will go on sale in Spring 2006 on April 13th.
