2006 NAIAS :: Reviews and Interviews Volvo displays the XC90 SUV at NAIAS
PHOTO BY JASON RZUCIDLO / AMERICAJR.com The Volvo XC90 took the Truck of the Year award a few years back...
The Volvo is a Swedish car build in Sweden and the XC90 is the most popular of the Volvo's. It is a V8, 311 horsepower, and seats seven. They started selling it in 2002 and it quickly became a hit. There are four different kinds of steel and the heaviest being on the doors for more protection against side impact. On the inside there is a Volvo Navigational System with a DVD Map and Remote Control. It also comes with Dynamic Stability and Traction Control as well as Roll Stability Control for added safety. There are daytime running lights that are made of halogen bulbs. For an extra $700, you can upgrade to Bi-Se non headlights. The front fog lights come standard on the spoiler. If you choose the climate package, there are little windshield wipers for the headlights. A security system comes standard. The warranty is for four years or 50,000 miles whichever comes first. You also get Volvo roadside assistance for FREE for the first four years after you buy the vehicle new. What I found interested is the exterior colors. For no charge, you can choose from Black or Ice White. If you would prefer Silver, Ruby Red, Titanium Grey, Magic Blue, Lunar Gold or Willow Green, you have to pay an extra $475. It's a four-wheel drive and delivers the power with the best grip on the specific tires on slippery roads. The basic model has 5 seats and starts at $35,000. The seven-seater starts at $45,000. This car has everything you can ask for.
