-- I talked with Annalisa Bluhm who works for Hummer
Communications Global Design and The
unique thing about this vehicle is that it's smaller than
the other Hummers. The top, sides and doors can be removed
for off-roading. It is also more compact. It is E85 compatible
with a V6 engine. It is Hummer's The HX is a trail-ready, open-air vehicle that fits the lifestyles of everyone who wants to drive off road. With the roof panels and roof assembly removed, the HX is transformed into a true convertible. From initial sketches to finalized clay models, it took only six months, according to the experts. The interior is aeronautically inspired with aircraft seats on a lightweight framework with cross braces. The HX seats four, with a pair of bucket-type seats in the second row which can be removed for more cargo room. It also has GPS capability, MP3, rear-facing camera and open-air slantback configuration. It is actually 3 trucks in one. It is also a crisis situation vehicle which includes a first-aid kit, shovel, flashlight and fire extinguisher inside the vehicle. At this point, there is no date under consideration to hit the showrooms. There is also no estimated price and no information on where it is going to be manufactured. The target segment for this vehicle is Gen Y or off-roading people. Bluhm says they got a great response for this vehicle making Hummer environmentally friendly.
