Scion xB now comes with a larger engine PHOTO BY JASON RZUCIDLO / ©AMERICAJR.com The Scion xB is on display at the 2008 NAIAS.
DETROIT -- I spoke with Jonathan Holloway, a Scion Product Specialist. The Scion xB, which is made in Japan, features a bigger engine. The 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine is same as the one on the Camry. It is 1 foot longer and 3 inches wider. The xB has more standard features such as side and curtain (window) airbags totalling six in all. It has iPod connectivity which is a standard accessory. You also can order GPS as an option. The Scion runs on gas only with 22 mpg in the city and 29 mph on the highway. The price range is from $15,100 to $17,600. For $16,200 you can get a fully loaded vehicle with a manual transmission. For $950 more, you can get an automatic. It is manufactured by Toyota. The warranty is a 3-year, 36,000 miles bumper to bumper and 5-year, 60,000 miles on the powertrain. There is no hybrid version of this vehicle. This car was unveiled in 2002, so it has been out for six years. The target segment is the 16-25 year olds along with the 30-45 year olds. AmericaJR.com's coverage of the 2008 NAIAS is sponsored by The Omni Detroit Hotel at River Place, The Dow Event Center in Saginaw and by RazorGator.com.
