DETROIT -- The Urban Wheel Awards, also known as the Academy Awards of the Automotive Industry, took place at the Fox Theatre in Downtown Detroit. This is the 12th consecutive year the event has taken place in conjunction with the North American International Auto Show.

On Wheels Inc., which has three different versions of the magazine, one for African-American, Latinos and Asians, is helping the automotive industry diversify their products and marketing. On Wheels CEO Randi Payton, is the spokesperson for the urban markets and has pushed for enhancement in style and safety.

The night that was themed fashion, stars, and cars honored automotive executives who are pioneers and who embrace cultural awareness in the automotive industry. The awards are determined by a board of automotive journalists and consumers who picked the most diverse advertisement and campaigns.

The Oscar nominated, choreographer and producer Rosie Perez hosted the event along with Entertainment Tonight news anchor Kevin Frasier. Many world famous celebrity and automotive insiders walked the red carpet in gorgeous gowns and tailor made suits that brought fashion and cars together to create one glamorous and star-studded event.
