The Ford Flex is updated with many new features PHOTO BY GLORIA RZUCIDLO / ©AMERICAJR.com A look at the rear of the 2009 Ford Flex.
DETROIT -- The Ford Flex is a 7-seat crossover vehicle built in Oakville, Canada. Jay Ward, the Ford SUV/CUV Communications Manager, says, "It's a stylish way of moving seven people." It's a box-on-box design and very aerodynamic even though it doesn't look like it. The rear wheel drive gets 24 mpg and the All Wheel drive gets 22 mpg. Leather seats are standard. It also has a voice activated SYNC system which is a safety feature, so it's hands free. All the seats including the front seat folds flat. It has a fridge/freezer compartment as an option. There is an automatic power lift tailgate, so if you are carrying groceries, you just press a button and it opens up. The Flex starts at $28,995. "Martha Stewart and Jack White bought one," says Ward. There are also rear sensors for parking which is standard. The Limited Edition has a headrest TV and DVD for the rear passengers. Also on the Limited, it has a rearview camera which is standard with the navigation system. The Flex has a Sirius Travel Link which gives you travel conditions, sports scores, up-to-date fuel prices in over 120 gas stations over the U.S. Sales are slow now, but the positive is that Ford has gotten a lot of new customers switching over to the Ford brand. There are no plans for a hybrid Flex. The Escape and Fusion are Ford's only hybrids. The vehicle goes 0-60 in 8.9 seconds. The top speed is 110 miles per hour. Ecoboost is the power of a V8 with the fuel economy of a V6, which will be coming in the future. In my opinion, the Ford Flex has the most exciting new features I have ever seen.
