DETROIT -- The 1968 movie Bullitt stars Steve McQueen in the title role of a tough San Francisco cop assigned to protect a witness who's going to testify against the mob. The film is widely known for one of the greatest car chases ever shown on the big screen, with the King of Cool in a 390 GT Razorback (top speed: 150 mph) against a black Dodge Charger.

In honor of the 40th anniversary, Ford developed the 2009 GT Coupe Premium Mustang -- nicknamed "Bullitt". It is part of the Special Edition Legendary series at a base price of $35,000; only 7,700 of them are made.

The car has a 325 Torque with a 4.6 V-8 Engine and a 315 horsepower. Its top speed is 151 mph, and can go 0-60 in 4.9 seconds.

Shown for the second year in a row at the North American International Auto Show, the Mustang will be available for only a limited run, and not for next year. Yet, the Mustang can still be a collector's car. The longer you hold on to it, said one of Ford's product specialists, the more it'll be worth later on. If we build more of them for 3-4 years, the quality declines, and the prices go down. The '09 GT Coupe Preminum Mustang is available at your local car dealerships in Michigan.
