WRAP-UP: 2009 NAIAS Attendance Slightly Lower With Less Automakers Displayed By Jason Rzucidlo

Cold weather. Snow. Less automakers. The struggling economy. Those are just some of the possible reasons for the slight dip in attendance at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, held at Cobo Center in downtown Detroit. A total of 650,517 people attended the show including 629,404 people on public days. Attendance on the final day rose to 92,715 compared with 88,324 on the last day in 2008. [1.31.09]

BYD shows off its F6DM dual-mode plug-in hybrid vehicle at NAIAS By Jasmine Boney

This year at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, BYD, Build Your Dreams, an auto company from China debuted the F6DM; a dual-mode electric vehicle. Showing off a champagne, four-door DM car, BYD fused electricity and gasoline powered engines. The F6DM is one of the first vehicles that BYD is using with the dual-mode concept. The 1968 movie Bullitt stars Steve McQueen in the title role of a tough San Francisco cop assigned to protect a witness who's going to testify against the mob. The film is widely known for one of the greatest car chases ever shown on the big screen, with the King of Cool in a 390 GT Razorback (top speed: 150 mph) against a black Dodge Charger. In honor of the 40th anniversary, Ford developed the 2009 GT Coupe Premium Mustang -- nicknamed "Bullitt". [1.23.09]

When looking at the Dodge Circuit at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, you think of a mini-Viper. However, think again, for this vehicle is out of pure electricity with a 268 horsepower, a small engine generator, and an prototype. The MM car is made in Tallmadge, Ohio, it is an one seater vehicle that is highway legal and zips to 76 mph. It is an electric car and can go 60 miles on one charge, it cost $20 for electricity to drive 1,000 miles. The car is Fun-telligent, cleaner air , domestic fuel. It charges with 110 volt outlet. Revenge Designs debuts GTM-R Super Car in Detroit By Michele Kotlarsky

The engine of the Revenge is GM Performance. LS7 427 Engine, V-8 the price is $145,000. This is a production vehicle with a two-piece linearly actuated assisted hood section. According to Emily LeVault, marketing manager, this car is “100% all American” made in northern Indiana, this car is the only one ever built. “This is our first time at the auto show and it’s an honor,” LeVault continues. It gets 25 mpg and 180 mph is the top speed. [1.17.09]

2009 Tesla Roadster Sport electric vehicle unveiled at NAIAS By Jerome Rzucidlo

Tesla Motors is a U.S. company founded in June 2003 in San Carlos, California by two engineers from the Silicon Valley. Doreen Allen, National Salesperson, says the Tesla Roadster Sport went into production in the Spring of 2008. It is a 100% electric vehicle. The EPA is a cycled program which determines its miles per charge. The range is 244 miles combined city/highway on a single charge. You can plug it in a 110 or 220 outlet. [1.16.09]

The Ford Flex is updated with many new features By Gloria Rzucidlo

The Ford Flex is a seven seat crossover vehicle built in Oakville, Canada. Jay Ward, the Ford SUV/CUV Communications Manager, says, "it's a stylish way of moving seven people." It's a box on box design and very aerodynamic even though it doesn't look like it. The rear wheel drive gets 24 mpg and the All Wheel drive gets 22 mpg. Leather seats are standard. It also has a voice activated SYNC system which is a safety feature, so it's hands free. All the seats including the front seat fold flat. [1.15.09]

Honda reveals 2010 Insight Hybrid at NAIAS By Jerome Rzucidlo

The 2010 Honda Insight is the newest hybrid being offered by Honda and it's also a hatchback. Sara Pines, Regional Manager of Public Relations, says they have not announced pricing yet for this vehicle. Production will begin in early April. The car gets 41 mpg. It offers Eco Assist which is a driver-focused fuel economy enhancement which is standard at a push of a button. [1.14.09]

Subaru Confirms Participation in North American International Auto Show

Subaru of America, Inc. has confirmed that it will participate in the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit this January. The company looks to present both the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year, the 2009 Subaru Forester and a new concept vehicle. 2009 Honda Insight Hybrid to Make World Debut at the North American International Auto Show

The all-new 2009 Honda Insight hybrid will make its world debut in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The five-passenger, five-door
Insight is expected to be the most affordable hybrid car available when it goes on sale in the spring of 2009. The Insight is expected to have annual global sales of 200,000 units per year -- approximately 100,000 in North America -- and will utilize a new interactive, driver-focused fuel economy enhancement technology named the Ecological Drive Assist System (Eco Assist(TM)). Nissan North America, Inc. today announced its Nissan NV2500 Concept, which makes its public debut in early January at the 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. One of the largest concepts vehicle ever created by Nissan, the innovative NV2500 Concept previews the company's entry into the North American Commercial Vehicle (CV) market in 2010 and is designed to highlight multi-purpose utility solutions in the real world. Chrysler's "Envi" team discusses Green vehicles at Automotive News conference By Jason Rzucidlo

The 1st Annual Automotive News Green Car Conference was held at the Rock Financial Show place on Thursday in Novi, Mich. Lou Rhodes is the Vice President of Advance Vehicle Engineering and President of ENVI for Chrysler LLC. He indicated that Chrysler is actively developing three "green" vehicles including the Chrysler Town & Country, Jeep Wrangler and Dodge EV. NAIAS Hosts Chinese Automakers Again in 2009

Brilliance Auto, BMW's Chinese partner, will make its first appearance at the NAIAS -- and its first appearance at any North American auto show. BYD, which made its debut at NAIAS 2008, is back for a return engagement. The NAIAS has been a leader among North American auto shows in attracting Chinese automakers to the U.S. At NAIAS 2007, Changfeng Motor became the first Chinese auto manufacturer to exhibit in Detroit or any other North American auto show. Suzuki Drops Out of the NAIAS; Will Not Display in 2009 By Jason Rzucidlo

Suzuki has said no thanks to an offer to display it's vehicles at the upcoming 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The automaker made the move based on limited space at Cobo Center. Suzuki will be the second automaker in a row to leave the NAIAS. Porsche left the NAIAS in 2007 and did not display the following year. Their decision was based on low sales in the Detroit market. [10.29.08]

Ford Tops Consumer Reports' Automotive Reliability Survey By Garrett Godwin

Consumer Reports revealed Thursday the results of the 2008 Auto Reliability Survey to the Automotive Press Association luncheon at the Detroit Athletic Club. The data includes an investigation of the reliability of vehicles up to 10 years old -- and predicting that how next year's models will hold up. The information is based on the response from more than a million vehicles that have either been owned or leased by those who also either subscribed to the publication or its website. [10.25.08]

Buehler Motor, Inc. to Provide Auxiliary Water Pumps for Chevrolet Volt and Some GM Hybrid Vehicles
