DETROIT -- There are just a few days left until the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) opens to the media on Jan. 11. Workers are putting the final touches on the displays inside Cobo Center. They are working around the clock to meet the deadline. The glitz and glamour is coming and AmericaJR.com will be in the middle of it bringing it home to you.

Some of the hot new concept cars that will be revealed at the NAIAS include the Th!nk City electric vehicle, MINI Beachcomber, BMW ActivE concept, a Toyota dedicated hybrid concept, the Chevrolet Orlando MPV concept, the Volvo C30 electric vehicle, the Buick Regal GS concept and a remake of the Chrysler 300, among many others. Click here for our full list of concept cars.

Some of the hot new production models that will be on display at the NAIAS include the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, , the 2011 Honda CR-Z, the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi, the 2010 Cadillac CTS sport wagon, the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour, the 2011 BMW 740i and 740Li, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible, the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V coupe and the Chevrolet Spark, among many others. Click here for our full list of production models.

"It's going to be an exciting show, we actually have more brands than last year," said NAIAS Executive Director Rod Alberts. "We're up to 60 this year. A lot of small companies, emerging companies, but that's what it's all about with the new alternative fuel and lithium batteries. I think people are going to find branding like the Electric Avenue we have, which is about upcoming cars and X-Prize cars that you hear about the awards going for alternative fuel and also the EcoXperience where you can actually ride and drive the cars that have no emission. So it's going to be a fun show."

For the second year in a row, we will be streaming most of the unveilings LIVE on your computer during press days. You will be able to watch all the excitement from home or work. Click here to Watch our LIVE Auto Show Coverage.

There will be a large focus on electric vehicles, solar-powered vehicles, hydrogen-powered vehicles that run on energies other than gasoline. A new electric avenue display area will feature vehicles that run on batteries. Look for automakers BYD, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Th!nk to display electric vehicles here.

Seven new automakers will display their vehicles at Cobo Center for the very first time. CT&T United, Commuter Cars, Saba Motors, Edison2, EV Innovations, SSI Racing and Zap will display their automobiles on the main floor of the auto show.

Other changes to the show floor: Nissan and Li Shi Guang Ming are returning to the NAIAS in 2010 after an absence in 2009. DTE Energy, Johnson Controls, Sakti3, TARDEC, A123 Systems Inc., Dow Kokam, SPX Service Solutions and Magna International will have displays in the basement of Cobo Center.

The Buick Lacrosse, Ford Fusion Hybrid and the Volkswagen Golf were named finalists for the 2010 North American Car of the Year Awards. The Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Transit Connect and Subaru Outback were chosen as finalists for the Truck of the Year Awards. The winners will be announced on Monday, January 11 at 8 a.m. during the first day of press days for the North American International Auto Show.

"We're just happy to just stage it at the show," Alberts added about the NACTOY Awards. "It's a great kickoff when they do the finalists. It was such a tough job because there was so many good ones. The designs are so great. It was tough to get it down to what they had. It's an important, unbiased award for the industry. I'm excited to have it at the show this year. It will coincide with our opening ceremony, which will kick off all of our press days."

The EcoXperience returns for its second year in Michigan Hall, which allows attendees to go on a ride-and-drive of new electric vehicles.

The NAIAS is expanding its floor space to include the MGM Grand Casino-Hotel. Luxury vehicles will be on display in a private setting known as “The Gallery.” It will be open from noon to 9 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Jan. 12. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at naias.com. It includes a one-day entry to the NAIAS public show.

AmericaJR.com is proud to be the ONLY website in the world with FREE tickets to the Auto Show. All winners will also receive two toasty combos from Quizno’s Sub. Special thanks to Quizno’s Sub at 33602 Seven Mile Rd. in Livonia, Mich. Click here for your chance to win!

It takes about four months, an entire college semester, to build and construct the auto show. Construction of the auto show began in early October.

"I think it's a real good sign that Chevrolet and Ford both have finalists in the Car of the Year and the Truck of the Year," said John McElroy, host of Autoline Detroit. "It's very interesting to me to see the Transit Connect is one of the Truck of the Year finalists because it's a very new type of vehicle. We've never seen anything like it in the American market before. The Chevrolet Equinox is a big step forward over the prior model. And of course Subaru made it with the Outback and that's a terrific vehicle as well."

The North American International Auto Show opens to the media on Jan. 11 and 12. The industry preview will take place on Jan. 13 and 14. Don’t forget about the charity preview, which is scheduled for Jan. 15. You’ll have your chance to see the auto show during the public show days, which run from Jan. 16 to 24.
