CT&T United introduces a full line of electric vehicles at 2010 NAIAS

DETROIT -- CT&T United is a brand new automaker from South Korea that produces battery electric vehicles including the eZone medium speed vehicle and the cZone low-speed vehicle. It was founded in 2002 by Young Gi Lee, a former Hyundai executive. The company includes experts from both Hyundai and Kia. CT&T United's entire line of vehicles run on batteries and produce zero emissions. Not even one vehicle from this automaker runs on gasoline.

"They started making golf carts and electric utility vehicles and evolved into the eZone vehicle, which became available early last year," said Curt Westlake, Senior Director of Marketing for CT&T United. "We're here at the Detroit Auto Show, our official kind of coming out party to North America and to the world. We've got the C2 (squared) sports car that runs on all-electric, zero emissions vehicle. Its got a top speed of 95 mph and a range of 155 miles. It recharges on conventional household current so there's no special charging station you have to go to."

The C2 (squared) is expected to sell for a target price of $50,000.

"It's a very exciting vehicle," Westlake added. "I think the most remarkable thing is it's not a concept car you can think about having three or four years from now. It's going to be available in the fourth quarter of 2010."

CT&T United also launched the eZone Plus at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It is expected to start at $12,000.

"It's kind of our next generation passenger vehicle," the senior director of marketing said. "It's a two-passenger vehicle, again all-electric, zero emissions. It has a top speed of 45 mph, has a range of 75 miles with the lithium ion battery pack."

The automaker also revealed a unique amphibious electric vehicle that can be driven on land or in the water. "Its got a range of 40 miles on the road and it's got a range of three hours as a boat before it needs to be recharged," Westlake said.

CT&T United has manufacturing facilities in South Korea in China but hopes to open a new factory in the U.S. later this year.

"Affordability is one of the things that is critical to our strategy," he added. "In most households, we estimate they will save anywhere from $105 to $150 a month in just gas and oil by using this for the majority of their short trips riding around town."

The automaker has set up a Regional Assembly and Sales system (RAS) to sell and offer maintenance for its vehicles. These centers will produce 10,000 electric vehicles each. CT&T United will open two RAS centers first in Pennsylvania and then expand to other states shortly after.
