Scion displays its xB compact car at 2010 NAIAS PHOTO BY GLORIA RZUCIDLO / ©AMERICAJR.com The Scion xB is a vehicle made by Toyota for the United States market and sold under their youth-oriented Scion brand. It is a box-shaped, 5-door compact station wagon.
DETROIT -- I spoke with Nathan Poniatowski, Product Specialist, regarding this subcompact wagon which is custom built. It is youth marketed with a median age of 32, with 30 standard features, six air bags and a tire pressure monitoring system. The engine is a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder that gets 22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. There are no plans for this vehicle to become hybrid or electric. It also has a special sound system. The price is $16,500 which came down from $18,000 just last year. The vehicle is manufactured in Japan only and has won the Blue Book Resale Award. The entire brand of Scions has 800,000 cars in production. Scion makes 70,000 xB vehicles. When you purchase a Scion, they have the Pure Pricing Process, which means every dealership is the same price with no haggling. It eliminates negotiation.
