China's Road to Electrification: Government and Industry Responses

January 12, 2011 – Cobo Center Room W2-63

DETROIT -- China Business Update (CBU) and China Automotive Review (CAR) will present our 4th annual seminar in Detroit on China, to discuss China’s Road to Electrification: Government and Industry Responses. The seminar is sponsored by Ernst & Young.

New automobile sales in China are to hit 18 million units in 2010, surpassing the U.S. for the 2nd year and probably once for all in history.

China has drafted a long-term development plan for new energy vehicles and has designated to offer strong policy support for plug-in and pure electric vehicles in the next 10 years. There has a consensus among government officials, academics and industrialists that China should commercialize small and low-speed EVs, plug-ins and electric buses and tax fleets on its road to electrification. As a leading battery and EV manufacturer, BYD Co., Ltd. will return to NAIAS for the 4th consecutive year in January 2011 with its plug-in and pure electric vehicles.

Confirmed and invited speakers include the following (listed in alphabetical order):

  • Michael Hanley, Global Automotive Industry Leader, Ernst & Young
  • Stella Li, Senior Vice President, BYD Co., Ltd.
  • Linda Luo, Executive Editor, China Business Update-EV & Hybrid (CBU-EVHybrid);
  • Pin Ni, President, Wanxiang Amercia;
  • Lei Xing, Executive Editor/Publisher, China Business Update/China Automotive Review
  • Tianbao Zhou, Chairman, Tempo Holding Group

As an attendee, you are guaranteed with the following bene€ts:

  • Learn about the latest developments of China’s automobile market, its movers and shakers;
  • Find out why China has made a national strategy in favor of plug-in and pure electric vehicles;
  • Understand China's potential as a global player to better prepare for new challenges and opportunities;
  • Review China’s most recent government policies and industry responses on the road to lectrification;
  • Meet senior executives from Chinese OEM and suppliers at a unique networking event during NAIAS.
