DETROIT -- I spoke with Mark Schirmer, Product Communications Manager, regarding the Ford Vertrek concept SUV.

This vehicle has a four-cylinder eco-boost engine, with 1.6 liter direct injection gas engine. The start-stop technology shuts the engine off at a
stoplight which saves fuel economy. The Ford eco-boost engine delivers fuel economy gains of up to 20 percent and reduction of CO2 emissions up to 15 percent.

The Ford Vertrek is a stylish and aerodynamic compact sport utility vehicle. This concept previews Ford's ambition for the next generation that will lead the company in both design and fuel efficiency.

The exterior is designed that when you open the doors, a step slides out as a running board. The rear-view mirror is a slim-line design and boasts a camera to let you see the entire side of the vehicle.

The interior has slim leather seats inspired by the quality of Bavarian lederhosen. The interior console has a flowing and modern design with a
high-mounted multi-functional display with a high resolution screen. The Ford Vertrek has no plans to be a hybrid or electric.
