DETROIT -- During the first two weekends of this month, superheroes are looking make 2011 another year for them, with the recent premieres of Cartoon Network's Young Justice and NBC's The Cape, and now The Green Hornet buzzing into theaters with star Seth Rogen, who also co-wrote the action comedy, and Jay Chou as Kato. The film's premiere couldn't come at a better time -- especially with The Black Beauty making its debut in the Motor City at the 2011 North American International Auto Show.

"I know when they were finding these for the movie, they spent anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000 for the cars," said promotional model Lauren Witt. "That was before they made all of the changes to them with all of the added weapons and stuff like that."

The grand-nephew of the legendary Lone Ranger, The Green Hornet made his debut on January 31, 1936 as a radio program. During the day, Britt Reid is a crusading news publisher, and masked vigilante by night, as he and Kato take on crime and corruption in the city while being wanted by the police as criminals themselves.

In the fall of 1966, ABC brought him to the small screen for a weekly half-hour with Van Williams and Bruce Lee, who was unknown at the time and became a breakout star. Though it lasted one season, the series became a cult fan favorite thanks to Lee, who really pave the way for the martial arts genre with Fists of Fury, The Chinese Connection, Return of the Dragon, and Enter the Dragon; most recently, the cable network SyFy aired all 26 episodes of The Green Hornet on Tuesday.

Look for The Green Hornet in theaters everywhere!
