DETROIT -- I spoke with Greg Clark, originally from England, who is the manager of Exclusive Vehicles at Mercedes-Benz.

The SLS AMG E-cell automobile is a 100 percent electric vehicle. It runs on a lithium battery with 525 hp and 649 lb.-ft. of torque. The car goes from 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, has zero emissions and is all-wheel drive. It sends power to all wheels independently. It has 108 separate cells, which equals to 400 volts of energy.

The range is 120 miles on a single charge. However, the target range is 150 miles. When you brake, it generates electricity. You can plug it into any wall outlet. On a 1100volt outlet, it takes six to eight hours to charge. On a 220, it takes three hours.

On a 380-volt outlet, it takes one hour. However, there are no 380-volt outlets in the United States. Those are only found in Europe.

The sun powers the climate control through the sunroof. This vehicle is manufactured in Germany only. In 2013, it will be at dealerships here in the United States.
