DETROIT
-- Clay A. Dean, GM's Director of Advanced Global Design
North America, talked to me about the Chevy Code 130R and the
Chevy TRU 140S. He said they are both cars for the millennials.
These are coupe cars that resonate with young people. They both
get 40 mpg with 1.4-liter turbo 4 cylinder engines. They are both
mild hybrid new for today with E-assist, not electric powered.
"We
are currently showing both cars at non-auto events and auto events
around the country to get reaction and feedback from consumers,"
Dean said. "They both have digital interior features. The
price range is $19,000-$24,000."
The Code 130R is a
boxy, yet functional muscle car with rear wheel drive. This model
has no radio. Your phone is your radio. When you put your phone
in the cradle, a pop-up screen pops up to show an enlarged screen.
The TRU 140S has a
European flair and is very aerodynamic with front wheel drive.
That being said, it is more cramped inside, much smaller than
the Code 130R. The TRU 140S has an imbedded screen as the radio.
It takes five years
to develop a car. We research new devices to update new software
since it changes so fast. These cars are not manufactured yet
and not yet planned for production.
