DETROIT -- I spoke to Kate Pearce, Lincoln Consumer Marketing Manager, and she says the Lincoln MKC is entering the fastest growing segment of the luxury industry in the U.S. "It is our continuation of our Lincoln design that we introduced in the MKZ. With the split wing grille, it wraps into the headlights which are LED and continues along elegantly along the side of the vehicle," Pearce said.

There is a continuation of the LED tail-lamp across the back of the car also. The continuity is also apparent in the frameless windows, which amplifies the richness of the design. It has a sleek, sculpted body and wheel arches and elegant shoulders.

Inside the car, there is crafted sculptural elements with French stitching and embossed Lincoln logos on the material. The instrument panel mimics the grille in the front of the car. There is push-button shift for transmission engagement on the instrument panel so the gear shifter is removed, which provides more open space and warmth in the car. This enables a flowing, expressive and architectural center console design covered with riveting details.

There is lots of attention to detail. There is personalized lighting and a host of customizable functions that are unique to the customer as the vehicle instantly recognizes the operator and creates a personalized welcoming sequence.

There are other refined details which include finishes cut from layers of reconstructed natural wood infused with a metallic flake for a glistening effect on the steering wheel, upper instrument panel and door panels.

There are four vehicles coming out in the next four years. The MKZ is out now in dealerships, then there is the MKC concept coming in the future, and the other two is not yet announced.

There are no powertrain plans today for the MKC and no mileage or production stats. It was built in Dearborn, Mich. at the Design Center.

The Lincoln MKC Concept strikes a perfect balance between warm, inviting comfort with the qualities of performance, ride, handling and braking. This vehicle is for someone who recognizes a luxurious vehicle and demands a balance between performance and comfort.
