Comparing two multi-purpose vehicles: Scion xB vs. Fiat 500L By Michele K.

Let me see....what shall I buy? The trunk space in my car just isn’t “square” enough. Try stacking items in a 1/2 rounded trunk, wasted space. Things I think my car (luxury mid sized sedan) can haul, just don’t fit. I like the square look of the Scion XB. If you go to Scion’s website you can add and compare vehicles. Unfortunately, the Fiat 500L isn’t released yet so I was unable to do the comparison so I called Diana Jellinek of Golling Fiat. There is very limited information out there even to dealers about the production car seen at the auto show the 2014 Fiat 500L. [1.21.13]

Hyundai at the 2013 North American International Auto Show By Robert Powell & Michele K.

Each year, Hyundai seems to be making a more significant impact upon what we expect in the quality and design of our automobiles. This seems to coincide with a larger and more refined presence at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) with each passing year. The HCD-14 Genesis Concept is "the embodiment of Hyundai's design vision," according to their spokesperson at the concept's NAIAS reveal and press conference. They describe it as a sleek and dangerous car, "like a cat with its ears pinned back." It is indeed what Bruce Wayne's 2013 version of the Batmobile (Catmobile?) should be and it would be great to see this beautiful car go into production with very few changes to the overall design. Audi shows off its 2014 R8 sports car at 2013 NAIAS By Pete Bublitz

Judging by the model makeup that graced each model along the Cobo floor displays, the color red was sure to launch the 2013 North American International Auto Show with new breakthroughs concerning old convertible favorites. It wasn’t so much the Corvette Stingray that dominates this style, however. Arguably more sharp in its coat and frame was the Audi R8. Along with its lust red tone, the R8’s body is balanced by dark grey scale ribbing adjacent to each door, covering the side mirrors, and along the lower siding. This is accompanied by what appear to be dual exhaust grates that bulk outward behind each door. [1.31.13]
