DETROIT -- The new 2015 Ford Mustang was introduced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit Michigan. I spoke with Steve Ling, North American Car Marketing Manager, Ford Motor Company. "The 2015 all new Ford Mustang is the first Mustang for the next 50 years. It has new looks and the goal is to make it for the next generation," says Ling.

There is an all new independent suspension system in both front and rear. It features a 3.2-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine yields 305 horsepower, which is turbocharged and direct injected. There are no figures announced on the fuel economy. However, a new intake manifold improves low-speed breathing for better fuel economy, idle stability and emissions.

On the inside there is an all-new interior with several drive modes. The driver can tap the toggle switch on the console to adjust steering and engine response using the Selectable Drive Modes to create your perfect Mustang.

"There is blind spot detection. A light goes on in the side mirror to detect if there's a car in your way," added Ling. There is heated and cool seats. It also has adapted cruise control, which means you can set the distance and the car will automatically stay that distance behind other vehicles. But if you stop short, a light will come on the heads-up display and will pre-charge your brakes for manual use.

Ling says there are three-dimensional, tri-bar taillamps that blink sequentially. There is a larger trunk and larger opening of the trunk for useful storage. "We got the formula right and stayed with it for 50 years. We make driving enjoyable," says Ling.

Production will be available in the Fall and it will be built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Flat Rock, Mich. There are no hybrid or electric plans. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
