2015 Honda Fit debuts as the next car for everyone's lifestyle
The 2015 Honda Fit made its North American debut in Detroit.
DETROIT -- The 2015 Honda Fit was introduced at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on Monday afternoon. The Honda Fit has set the standard in the sub-compact class. The 2015 model has a sleek and modern exterior styling with rear reflections and LED taillights. The new Fit is one and a half inches shorter. Fit has 52.7 feet of space.
"It is bigger on the inside than it is on the outside," said John Mendel, Executive Vice President of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co. "The interior is significantly advanced--soft materials for extra comfort. Honda Link has an in-dash navigation system. Also, smart entry with push button starts. It's the best Fit ever."
The Fit was revealed as the perfect car for everyone's lifestyle and personality. During the press conference, models dressed in swimsuits, skiing/snowboarding clothes, golfing attire and many more went by on a conveyor belt from left to right.
Honda first made its mark in American in the compact car market. "Ninety-eight percent of the cars we sell in America will be built in North America," he added. "There is nothing small about our thinking. No one does small cars like Honda. The Honda Fit has set the standard in the sub-compact class. The new Honda Fit is the best-selling car in Japan. It is a vehicle of capabilities as diverse as the lifestyles of our customers."
"We are very excited about the year ahead. 2013 was a banner year for Honda. We set an all time record in December. It was our third best year in it's 40 year history," says Mendel.
The Civic, CR-V and Accord had one million new retail customers. The Honda Civic is America's best selling car. More than 75 percent of all Honda vehicles still on the road today.
On the safety front, IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) reports Honda brands remain at the top; more than any other brand. Their goal will be to further strengthen safety and fuel standards in the years to come, according to the executive vice president.

The new Fit comes with a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine producing 130 hp and 114 lb.-ft. of torque.
It will achieve 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway.
The 2015 Honda Fit will arrive in U.S. showrooms this spring.
