DETROIT -- While looking over the MINI booth, the Superleggera Vision concept caught my attention. Chris Potgieter, MINI Product Manager for USA, says the MINI Superleggera is a mix between the MINI and Suerleggera Touring based out of Milan, Italy creating elegance, sporty shapes and designs. The "Touring" line is modeled with enormous precision and with the tradition of classic coachwork construction.

Potgieter also adds that "the carbon fiber elements on the inside sill enhances the aerodynamics. The cockpit dashboard is hand crafted in one piece of aluminum, sculpted by hand and with a brush-stroked finish. Its simple interior design has a high quality design. Most surfaces are finished in aluminum or high quality leather. "

This Superleggera concept is one of a kind and was first presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The molding on the exterior has high craftsmanship. "One of my favorite features is the tail lights incorporated in the Union Jack," Potgieter explained.

He added: "There are no details on the engine. This is a only a vision of what MINI could become in the future. There are no plans for production. However, we got great response from the media for production. The idea for this Superleggera is to make it fully electric."

The fin on the back hood is an indication of a British classic sports car. The 3-D molded strips on the design of the front hood is a signature symbol of the MINI.

The MINI Superleggera Vision blends creativity and flexibility with rigor and respect of high standards. The result is a car of classic beauty that is also state of the art.

BBC News has called the Superleggera Visiion the "most fascinating concept car" of 2014.

The highlight of the flat, wide rear is the unusual lights: designed in the form of a Union Jack divided in two, they combine functionality and symbolism in a way never seen before.
