Pistons Suffer a Tough Loss in
Game 7
It was a
long, hard fought battle. The top two rated teams in the NBA faced
each other for seven games in the 2005 NBA Finals.
The first
two games were played in San Antonio along with the last two. The
three middle games were played in Detroit at the Palace of Auburn
Hills. This is a new 2-3-2 format for the Finals.
Chauncey
Billups was my favorite player throughout the entire playoffs. It
seems that whenever someone gave him the ball, he would score. He
made almost every free-throw with a percentage above 90%. That's
unheard of these days in the NBA.
Let's talk
about Ben Wallace. Don't get me wrong, he's a great defense man.
Have you ever seen him shoot a basket? His percentage is below 40
and that's considered failing.
The whole
entire game seven was tied the entire time until the 4th quarter.
Each time they went to a commercial break, one of the teams was
up by one or two points. The Pistons had a 9-point lead during the
3rd quarter.
During the
4th quarter, the Spurs were coming back and took over the lead.
It seems that the crowd was so fired up, they were banging those
noisemakers together that even I wouldn't be able to make a basket.
If I was in the NBA, I would not allow those noisemakers. It's bad
enough they make noise during the opponent's free-throws I guess
it gives a new meaning to "home court advantage."
The Pistons
were able to make many baskets during the 4th quarter. There was
so many fouls. It seems like Tim Duncan was at the free-throw line
every five minutes. He was awarded the MVP Award for 2005.
I really
think that the Pistons should have won Game 5 at the Palace. They
lost it by only a single point. They could've made that point with
one of their free-throw attempts. It's just one more basket.
Another
thing the Pistons need to improve on is three-pointers. They did
very well in Game 6 when they won and forced a 7th game in the series.
In Game 7, they only made a few 3-pointers. The Spurs are a three-point
team. Each player is good at making them.
The Pistons
need to work on making those 3 point shots. It nice when your good
at 2 point shots, but if your opponent is making 3's, you've got
to do the same.
And another
thing, I don't like that Manu Ginobili guy. He's absolutely crazy
running around like he knows it all. I think he may be one of the
reasons why the Pistons weren't able to defend their championship
this year.
As for the
future of coach Larry Brown, it's questionable. He has three options
right now: 1. Retire 2. Return and Coach the Pistons 3. Take an
office job for the Cleveland Cavaliers. If his health is in check,
I think he will return as a coach for one more year to get a championship.
Let's say the Pistons go all the way in 2006, then he will probably
retire at the top of his game.
Congratulations
to the Detroit Pistons for being 2005 Eastern Conference Champions.
They just came up a little short...
GO
PISTONS!!!
