HIGHLAND PARK,
Mich. -- Former Miss USA Rima Fakih was arrested over the
weekend on the suspicion of drunk driving, yet this isn't the first
time the 26-year-old Highland Park, Mich. native made headlines.
Last year, after being the first Arab-American to be named Miss
USA last year, photos of Fakih were released online that showed
her being part of a stripping contest for the radio show Mojo
in the Morning back in 2007, where Fakih claimed that it was
about helping women train their bodies and self-esteem.
"At the very end",
she said to People at the time, "we had all the women
jump on stage and show what they've learned. Of course, the pictures
won't show that. It was something where we were having fun."
Fakih could be faced
with several charges of driving under the influence (DUI). "[She's]
very saddened and very apologetic for the situation that she's in
right now" states her attorney Donald Elder.
Her hearing is set for
Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. at the 30th District Court in Highland Park, Mich.
