Saturday, 26 September, 2009 2:04 PM Ruth's Chris Steak House rolls out new, expanded menu options
We tried Ruth's Chris Steak House in Troy which is near the Somerset Collection at 755 W. Big Beaver Road. We were seated in the Bistro/Bar area and was greeted by Frank, the bartender/waiter, who served us Ruth's famous Cosmo Martini. The Bistro is a section of the restaurant where there is about a dozen stools, two flat screen TVs and several tables. The menu at the Bistro is completely new with Starters such as three Prime Rib Sliders for $10. They also have a variety of Sushi, which run $12. Soups and salads are also on the menu, such as the house salad, which is $7 to the chilled shellfish salad that runs $19. The restaurant also offers a variety of sandwiches such as the Steak Sandwich for $17, the Prime Sandwich for $13.50 and the Chicken Sandwich for $13. The drinks consist of Martinis from $12-$12.50 and specialty cocktails from $9.50-$13. Wine by the glass is also served, starting from $9-$28. Domestic beers during happy hour are $3 each. During our visit, we tried the Prime Rib Sliders, the Surf & Turf Sushi, which is spicy crabmeat rolled in sushi rice and beef carpaccio. We also had the steak sandwiches, which are sliced filet drizzled with bernaise sauce on garlic toast. We tried the Tuna Sashimi, which are thin slices of tuna with garlic, cilantro with soy lemon sauce. We also had the crab cake sliders, which consist of petite crab cakes with spicy mayonnaise. The food was excellent. The atmosphere divine. The main menu in the fine dining room is quite extensive. From their Signature Steaks and Chops to their Seafood. For example, their filet mignon is $37, their entree complements such as sauces are extra. The potatoes and pasta is also extra as well as their vegetables. They run $8 a piece. Daniel Doerfling, the General Manger, told us that "The bistro is new to the restaurant and it used to be the front lawn. They have extended the restaurant to include this new Bar area along with the new Bistro menu." He also said that the Bistro menu is a test menu with only certain select restaurants such as in Orlando, Florida and Troy, Michigan to try it first. Valet parking is available and proper dining attire is recommended. Reservations are suggested but not required. All in all, it was a very nice experience so if you want casual dining with upscale food, this is the place to go. Overall Rating: A For more information, visit www.ruthschris.com.
