CLEMENS, Mich. -- The Parlotones are making their mark
in the states with its first U.S. release Stardust Galaxies,
which originally debuted in the group’s native South Africa
last year, and hit the U.S. market last week, on September 14th.
The album’s lead single, "Life Design,” quickly
found a home on stateside radio over the summer.
"We're now very excited to embark onto the journey into America
; that's the dream,” states lead singer Kahn Morbee. "The
goal is that we can take our music around the world. Whether it
makes us superstars doesn't matter."
The band is already an international sensation throughout Europe
as well as their native South Africa , where they've sold more records
than Coldplay, Oasis and The Killers, combined.
With The
Parlotones’s FIFA World Cup Kickoff Concert performance watched
by more than one billion viewers, the group has embarked on its
very first American tour, joining rock veterans Blue October on
the road. The tour schedule includes two dates in Michigan on October
8 (Traverse City, Leelanau Sands Theatre) and October 9 (Mount Clemens,
Emerald Theatre), as they get closer to their dream of building
an audience in what is perhaps the final frontier for the band—the
United States.
"We've
always had to work really hard," Kahn said. "We've never
come with a big record label; we've always had a spirit of independent
label. We won't give up; it's about the journey, and it's about
making music. When we write songs, it's really on a social and internal
level."
Stardust
Galaxies will be available on Sovereign Entertainment USA/Rocket
Science Ventures at select music retailers across the U.S. , and
through all major digital music providers such as iTunes and Amazon.com.
“The ultimate message [of this album]," said Kahn, "is
that life is a great journey and there is always hope. There are
songs to dance to, and there are songs to make love to. It's the
soundtrack of the human experience."
