Lee
Thomas of WJBK-TV Fox 2 News hosted the Award Ceremony. He read
the rules of the filmmakers. Movies must have been filmed in or
around our borders of Michigan. There were 120 films submitted
this year. These submissions were narrowed down to the best 60
shorts and full-length films.

Jeff
Spilman, Co-Executive Director on the Film Festival Board, announced
the two charities. "We are partnered with Gleaners Food Bank
and Defeat the Label, an organization on bullying." The film
Bully will be out on March 30.

The
award for Best Michigan Experimental Film went to Patient Spider,
directed by Peter Sparling. She accepted the award on his behalf.

Director
Kristen Miller accepted the Best Michigan Animated Film Award for
her movie, Heart Shaped Man.

The Best Michigan Student Film went to American Terrorist,
directed by MSU's Ben Sherman. Curtis accepted his award.
