donates a CNG cargo van to the D.S.C.

Chevrolet
today donated to the Detroit Science Center (DSC) a compressed
natural gas (CNG) Express cargo van that will transport the center’s
Traveling Science program to Detroit schools and communities starting
this Fall.

“Our $1.4 million pledge to create ‘On the Road with
General Motors’ demonstrates our commitment to educational
programs that benefit the Detroit Community,” said Janice
Uhlig, GM Foundation board member and GM’s executive director,
Global Compensation and Planning.

Uhlig added: “Bringing this exhibit to life is important
so Detroit Science Center visitors can learn more about manufacturing,
vehicle systems and our nation’s transportation infrastructure.”

“Our
nation’s long-term fuel solution will include a bundle of
different technologies. Natural gas is one that is available today
in the United States,” said Kevin F. Prihod, president &
CEO of the Detroit Science Center. “As a science museum we
are thrilled to be able to showcase CNG vehicle technology as we
take our programs out into the community.”

The
GM Foundation also presented the DSC with $96,000, part of its
$1.4 million, multi-year pledge in support of the “On the
Road with General Motors” exhibit gallery.
