Subaru R1e is an electric vehicle that was shown off at the 2008
New York Auto Show. Subaru is planning on offering these vehicles
for sale to consumers starting in 2010. The vehicle has a range
of 50 miles and a top speed of 62 mph. The car uses a lithium-ion
battery which was developed in cooperation with NEC and can be recharged
to 80% capacity in fifteen minutes using a special rapid charger,
or to 100% charge in eight hours on a standard 100V plug.
