13th Annual Rochester Mills Beer Co. Oktoberfest

400 Water Street • Rochester, Michigan • Sept. 22, 2011

A preview for the 13th Annual Oktoberfest took place on Sept. 22, 2011.

Rochester Mayor Jeffrey Cuthbertson and Rochester Hills Mayor Bryan Barnett were inside the brewery at 7 p.m.

Local teens from the School of Rock and JC Drums Music School performed from 6-10 p.m.

The free pre-festival activities also included a “Game of Skate” skateboard session and demo hosted by South Street Skate Park

A lauter tun is the traditional vessel used for separation of the extracted wort. While the basic principle of its operation has remained the same since its first use, technological advances have led to better designed lauter tuns capable of quicker and more complete extraction of the sugars from the grain.
