BROOKLYN,
Mich. -- NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver Greg
Biffle showed motorists of metro Detroit that he knows
his way around an automobile, especially when 3M Car Care
products are on hand.
Biffle used
3M Car Care products at a Super Car Wash in Farmington
Hills on Wednesday while promoting the Aug. 19 3M Performance
400 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race at Michigan International
Speedway.
"Michigan
is definitely one of our better racetracks to run at,"
the Roush Fenway Racing driver said. “I look forward
every time we come up here to race. Driving three wide,
that's what makes this racetrack so fun.”
Roush Fenway
Racing is sponsored by 3M, so it is no surprise that Biffle
knew exactly how to use the 3M Car Care products on customers’
vehicles. Biffle, who has two wins at MIS in both the
NEXTEL Cup and Craftsman Truck Series, will pilot the
No. 16 3M car during the 3M Performance 400, with teammate
Todd Kluever behind the wheel for the CARFAX 250 Busch
Series race on Aug. 18.
Currently 16th
in the points standing, with five top 10 finishes in 19
races thus far, Biffle’s season has been a frustrating
one. Making it clear that the No. 16 team won’t
give up on the Chase for the NEXTEL Cup, Biffle is hopeful
his luck will change at the two-mile oval next month.
“We always
run really well here, we’re looking for a top five
run - that’s our goal,” Biffle said.
Biffle and
his Roush Fenway teammates have dominated racing at MIS
in recent years. In the past 11 NEXTEL Cup events at Michigan,
Roush Fenway drivers have won six (Carl Edwards, 6/07;
Matt Kenseth, 8/06, Greg Biffle, 6/05 & 8/04; Kurt
Busch 6/03; Kenseth 6/02). If a Roush Fenway driver wins
the 3M Performance 400, the team will tie the Wood Brothers
for the most NEXTEL Cup wins at MIS with 11 each.
The team also
swept all three events last month with Erik Darnell winning
the ARCA RE/MAX Series race, Travis Kvapil taking the
checkered flag in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and
Edwards doing a back flip on the start finish line after
the Citizens Bank 400.
Although his
team has a great track record here, when the sun sets
on Aug. 19, Biffle will only have three races to make
his way to 12th in the points standing and into the Chase
for the NEXTEL Cup, a position which he is currently 185
points away from, and is occupied by Dale Earnhardt Jr.,
a driver who has finished no worse than sixth in the last
three NEXTEL Cup races here.
Make sure to
be at the track for the 3M Performance 400 to see if Biffle
can give Roush Fenway Racing its third straight NEXTEL
Cup win at MIS, or see if his hopes to make the Chase
disappear, just like 3M Car Care products make those pesky
paint swirls disappear.
Tickets for
the remainder of the 2007 race season at MIS, including
the Firestone Indy 400 IndyCar Series race on Aug. 5,
the CARFAX 250 Busch Series race on Aug. 18, and the 3M
Performance 400 NEXTEL Cup Series race on Aug. 19, are
