FREIGHT 200”

BROOKLYN,
Mich. –Ann Arbor-based Con-way Freight Inc., and
Michigan International Speedway (MIS) announced today that the less-than-truckload
freight transportation company will be the title sponsor of the
Saturday, June 17 “Con-way Freight 200” NASCAR Craftsman
Truck Series race at MIS.
In addition to its title sponsorship of the Con-way Freight 200,
Con-way Freight Inc. is the primary sponsor of Craftsman Truck Series
driver and Michigan native Jack Sprague, who is piloting the No.
60 Con-way Freight Toyota Tundra throughout the 2006 season for
Wyler Racing. Sprague is the only three-time series champion in
the history of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“MIS is a great venue with a wonderful event,” said
Con-way Freight President David S. McClimon. “Being a Michigan
based company with a Michigan driver it just makes sense to sponsor
a race in our home state that our employees and customers can enjoy.”
“Michigan International Speedway is my home track, so I always
look forward to going there,” said Sprague. “This year’s
race is going to be extra special since it’s my sponsor’s
(Con-way) home track too, and they are going to sponsor the NASCAR
Craftsman Truck Series race. I haven’t won at Michigan before,
and I can’t think of anything better than to drive the No.
60 Con-way Freight Toyota into victory lane in the Con-way Freight
200 at Michigan. To have a sponsor like Con-way Freight is really
cool – we do a lot of events and appearances with their employees
and the support they provide us is incredible. Now to add this race
sponsorship to the mix is awesome and everyone here at Wyler Racing
wants to make this a memorable event for them.”
Last season, Dennis Setzer pulled away from Ted Musgrave on the
final restart with two laps remaining, giving him his first career
victory at MIS. It was also Chevrolet’s first Craftsman Truck
Series victory at MIS.
“We
are thrilled to unite with a great Michigan company like Con-way
for our NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race,” said MIS President
Brett Shelton. “The partnership makes sense for a lot of reasons.
Not only are they based in our state and have a Michigan native
behind the wheel of their Craftsman Truck Series entry, but a growing
company like Con-way fits well with the series that just continues
to grow at MIS and across the country.”
