FONTANA, Calif. -- The Middletown, Conn. native returned to victory lane after leading 92 laps in the Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway (ACS). Joey Logano, 21, brought his No. 18 Translux Toyota into the winner's circle on Saturday afternoon. Logano started the race and won it from the pole in front of an estimated crowd of 40,000. This was Joe Gibbs Racing's eighth consecutive victory in the NASCAR Nationwide series at ACS.

"It's important to keep the streak going," Logano told the press after winning the race. "We try to win every one. All of the guys at the shop have done a great job."

Logano's margin of victory over Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was 1.066 seconds. This was his 10th victory in 92 NASCAR Nationwide Series races and his first this year. The Royal Purple 300 win was Logano's second victory and seventh top-10 finish in seven races at ACS.

"We've got a hard working bunch of guys," said Logano's team owner Joe Gibbs. "I really appreciate this. We had two new sponsors on the car. Southern California, we love coming here."

In qualifying, Logano finished with a time of 40.227 seconds for one lap around the two-mile oval or a speed of 178.984 mph. He previously won the CampingWorld.com 300 at the Fontana, Calif. race track on Oct. 10, 2009.

"It was amazing, so many lead changes," said Logano's crew chief Adam Stevens. "Joey, obviously, he is the master of that. This is the only win I've been a part of."

Stenhouse started the race in the 10th position and made it all the way up to second. His time during qualifying was 41.032 seconds at a speed of 175.473 mph. The race between Stenhouse and Logano was a very close one. Their cars were neck and neck over the last 10 laps. The Roush Fenway Racing driver was hoping to end up with another win, his last was in the 2012 Sam's Town 300 in Las Vegas.

"These Nationwide cars don't have a ton of horsepower," Logano added. "Adam and the boys made a couple quick adjustments. There wasn't much in the middle for me."

Justin Allgaier, who started second, ended up finishing 32nd. His car was taken into the garage after lap 112 due to an engine problem.

"You don't like racing Kyle if he's going against you," Gibbs added. "The race today was very competitive."

Brad Keselowski, who started third, ended up finishing in the same position. It was his fifth top-10 finish in 11 races at the Auto Club Speedway.

"We're still teammates on Sunday," Logano said about Kyle Busch, who drives the No. 18 Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. "We race each other hard."

Logano accepted the Mahle Clevite Engine Builder of the Race Award of behalf of his racing team, led by crew chief Adam Stevens. He also won the 3M Lap Leader Award and the Coors Light Pole Award before the start of the race.

During the Royal Purple 300, there were 15 lead changes among seven drivers. There were four caution flags. The first was on lap 58 for debris. The second was on lap 93 for Sam Hornish Jr.'s accident in turn four. The third was on lap 105 for debris. The final caution took place on lap 134 for Blake Koch's spin out on turn four. The race lasted for two hours, six minutes and 28 seconds. The average speed was 142.330 mph.

Elliott Sadler continues to lead in the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings with 214 points after the conclusion of the Royal Purple 300. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. remains in second with 196 points and Austin Dillin is in third with 187 points. Logano is ineligible for points in this series.

Fans were able to enjoy free concerts by The Tender Box and Pam Lynn King & The Royal Rukus. In addition, the Metal Mulisha Extreme Stunt Show took place in the Discover IE Fan Zone. Tickets were not required to enjoy the performances.

The next race for the NASCAR Nationwide Series will be at the Texas Motor Speedway on April 13, 2012.
