2005 MLB All-Star Game Preview

The best players from the NL will battle it out with the best from the AL in the Midsummer Classic, the MLB All-Star Game. The 2005 edition will be at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI. We are fortunate to have this big event in our hometown.

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez will be the only player in the game from the Detroit Tigers. He is our catcher. He will also participate in the Home Run Derby on Monday.

There are several events planned for All-Star Week. FanFest will be a week long celebration at Cobo Center. There will be a Futures Game and a Legends & Celebrities Game on All-Star Sunday. Monday features the Century 21 Home Run Derby. The week ends on Tuesday with the 76th Annual MLB All-Star Game.

The John Hancock All-Star FanFest will be at Cobo Center in Downtown Detroit. Hours are Friday, July 8th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday July 9th and 10th from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, July 11th from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, July 12th from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The FanFest is expected to draw over 100,000 fans. There will be 300,000 square feet of attractions. Read about everything that will be going on at FanFest. Tickets are still available for Fanfest.

All-Star Sunday Presented by Taco Bell features a Futures Game. The best players from the Minor Leagues will play in a U.S. vs. World format. Then, there will be a concert by Uncle Kracker and The Romantics. Next will be the Legends & Celebrities game. Click here to read who will participate.

On Monday, there will be a press conference by the World Baseball Classic. MLB is going to announce a 16-nation tournament featuring some of the best baseball players in the world. It will take place in March 2006.

The Century 21 Home Run Derby will also be on Monday at Comerica Park. Eight contries will each have a player representing them. During the Home Run Derby, fans will be treated to a concert by the rock group Alter Bridge.

There are a lot of good players in this year's All-Star Game. I am excited to see Roger Clemens, Pedro Martinez and Ivan Rodriguez from Detroit. Tickets are sold out for the All-Star Game on Tuesday.

Just in case you are wondering, tickets are still available for the All-Star Fanfest, Futures Game and the Legends & Celebrities Game. You can order tickets from Comerica Park, detroittigers.com or Ticketmaster. Call (248) 25-TIGER. Adults $16, Seniors & Military $11, Children $11, Under 2 are FREE.
