MLB All-Star Game Review
The American
League continued its winning streak with a 7-5 victory over the
National League at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI during the 2005
MLB All-Star Game.
There
was 41,167 fans watching the game at Comerica Park. The NL hasn't
won an All-Star Game since 1996. They are being shutout bu the
AL. During the 4th inning, the Detroit paid tribute to the great
Ernie Harwell with a special video message which drew a standing
ovation.
Miguel
Tejada was named the MLB All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP).
He got an award and also the keys to a new Chevy Corvette. He
had a double play in the 1st inning, a home run in the 2nd inning
and two RBIs.
Detroit's
Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez made it to the final round during
the Century 21 Home Run Derby. He faced Bobby Abreu who outscored
him 11-5 in the final round. Abreu went into the record books
by scoring 24 home runs during one round.
The XM
Satellite Radio Futures Game also made history by having the lowerst-scoring
contest ever. The World Team beat the U.S. team by a score of
4-0. There was only one home run during that game and it all came
down to the pitching.
I had
the opportunity to go to Fanfest at Cobo Center. I got my picture
on the cover of Sports Weekly, on a Wheaties cereal box and more.
I participated in a fantasy broadcast of FSN Detroit Sports Report
and as an announcer on 1270 AM. Check out all of our pictures
from FanFest.
The All-Star
Game brought thousands of people to Detroit. It poured in lots
of money for the economy here. It was definitely what we needed.
A fun time for all!
