Mears visits Jackson in support of CARFAX 400
NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series driver Casey Mears gets the
opportunity to race in the sport’s top series
each and every week as driver of the No. 07 Chevrolet
for Richard Childress Racing. However, in the
beginning it all started at the go-kart track
for Mears. Mears, who was in Jackson, Mich. in
support of the Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 at
Michigan International Speedway on August 16,
returned to the go-kart track on Thursday by competing
against media and sponsors at Jackson Speedway.

take advantage of 99-cent gas in Livonia
People
in Michigan haven’t seen gas prices at 99
cents per gallon since the early 1990’s. However,
with the help of CARFAX and Michigan International
Speedway, a gallon of gas was less than a buck Thursday
morning in Livonia, Mich. or three hours (6 to 9
a.m.) thousands of area residents took advantage
of the promotion, which was held in support of the
“Show Me the CARFAX Race Weekend,” which
takes place at MIS with the NASCAR Nationwide Series
CARFAX 250 on Saturday, August 15 and the NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series CARFAX 400 on Sunday, August 16. |

post-race concert on Aug. 15

blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Kenny Wayne
Shepherd will perform a Miller Lite Rock N' Racing
post-race concert following the CARFAX 250 on Saturday,
Aug. 15 at Michigan International Speedway. Shepherd
will also serve as the grand marshal for the NASCAR
Nationwide Series race earlier that day. |

music star and RCA Nashville recording artist Chris
Young will bring his distinct music style to the
stage at Michigan International Speedway by performing
the national anthem for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
CARFAX 400 on Sunday, August 16. Young is scheduled
to perform during pre-race festivities beginning
around 1:30 p.m. before the start of the CARFAX
400. |

Rochester
Hills native Brad Keselowski wins the CARFAX 250
at MIS
It
was a two-car race from the start between Brian
Vickers and Kyle Busch until Rochester Hills,
Mich., native Brad Keselowski decided to make
it three with one lap remaining in the NASCAR
Nationwide CARFAX 250 at Michigan International
Speedway. Keselowski, 25, led for only three laps,
but the one that mattered was the last lap as
he grabbed his third victory of the season in
a wild, heated finish that led to some post-race
verbal turbulence.

Open House and Autograph Session in Livonia. RoushFenway
owner Jack Roush appeared along with drivers Carl
Edwards, Erik Darnell, Matt Kenseth along with Roush's
daughter, Susan Roush-McClenaghan. Fans waited in
line for hours to get autographs from their favorite
drivers. Fans were also able to see the entire Roush
collection in Livonia. |

performed at the Miller Lite Rock N' Racing concert
following the CARFAX 250 race on Saturday. Toledo's
Empire Drift opened the show at around 6 p.m.
Shepherd came on later at around 7:30 p.m. and
sang all his hit songs. Empire Drift passes out
free copies of its latest album and signed them
for fans.

Burton completes demolition of MIS infield pit
suites and media center
On
Sundays, Jeff Burton drives the #31 Caterpillar
Chevy Impala for Richard Childress Racing in the
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Last Wednesday, he came
to Michigan International Speedway to drive a
CAT excavator. He was in town to finish off the
demolition of the infield pit suites and media
