YPSILANTI, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team (9-5) overwhelmed Niagara (1-10), 89-34. Senior guard Cassie Schrock and junior guard Tavelyn James each scored 20 points at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, MI. The speed of the EMU Lady Eagles was the key to the big route. The Niagara women only scored 13 points in the second half. It was the fourth straight win for EMU. Schrok, playing in her 103rd career game was 6-7 from the field and James had five 3’s for the home team. Additionally, Olivia Fouty grabbed 11 rebounds for the Lady Eagles. EMU started hot from the get go with James hitting a pair of three’s to help jump to a 15-2 start. Schrock and James are both averaging 16 points on the year. Chanel Johnson had seven points for Niagara. Liz Flooks was blanked in scoring and it hurt big time as she had been averaging 13 point a game for Niagara. Everyone on the EMU bench got in the game and scored at least one point. Redshirt junior guard Raina Spencer is out for the season. She sustained a knee injury prior to the Illinois-Chicago game. She had been averaging four points a game for Eastern. EMU will start their Mid-American Conference schedule at Northern Illinois (6-6) on January 5.
