BROOKLYN,
MI. – Aspiring
country sensation Danielle Peck has opened for stars like Toby Keith
and Brad Paisley and performed the national anthem for the NFL.
Now, she will bring her talents to the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series
and open the GFS Marketplace 400 before the largest single-day sporting
crowd in the state of Michigan.
Born and raised in nearby
Coshocton, Ohio, Peck will perform The Star-Spangled Banner on Sunday,
August 20 at Michigan International Speedway prior to the NASCAR
NEXTEL Cup Series GFS Marketplace 400.
"We are thrilled
to have Danielle Peck join us to perform for our final event of
the season. It's exciting to have such an extremely talented vocalist
from the Midwest honoring our country during pre-race ceremonies,"
said Brett Shelton, president of MIS. "Having Danielle at MIS
is a great addition to the final event of our 2006 season, and we
are sure that our fans will enjoy it."
Danielle Peck's star has risen dramatically. As the fastest-selling
debut female country artist of 2006, Peck has seen her brand-new
single, "Findin' a Good Man", climb to the Top 20 in the
R&R chart and the Top 20 on Billboard. She wrote eight of the
11 songs on her self-titled debut CD, which was released in stores
on June 6 and debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top New Artist Albums
chart.
Danielle is one of only
four new female country artists in the last three years to enter
the Top 20 on the country airplay charts, joining Carrie Underwood,
Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert. Recently, Danielle has opened
for Toby Keith, Big & Rich, Brad Paisley, Sara Evans, Hootie
and the Blowfish, and Montgomery Gentry. Since her November 2005
debut on the Grand Ole Opry's "Women of Country" show,
Peck has returned to the show several times, including a televised
performance with Lee Ann Womack, Carrie Underwood, and Lorrie Morgan
during the spring.
