YPSILANTI, MI. NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Reed Sorenson made an appearance at Discount Tire in Ypsilanti to meet his fans and sign autographs. He will race in the both the Carfax 250 and in the GFS Marketplace 400 races at Michigan International Speedway this weekend.

Sorenson was born on February 5, 1986. He is 5'10" tall and weights 165 lbs. He was forn in Peachtree City, Georgia but currently lives in Concord, North Carolina. Ladies, he is also single! He enjoys working out, water sports and playing video games. He enjoys listening to country and rap music. He enjoys eating Mexican food.

Reed Sorenson started racing back in 1992 when he was just six years old. He raced in Quarter Midgets then. Just four years later, he was already setting qualifying records in the East and West coast National events in the Quarter Midgets. In 1998, Sorenson began racing in Legends Cars where he captured 13 victories and 22 top-five finishes.

For the next five years, he continued racing in Legends cars and took home many victories. In 2002, he stopped racing in Legends cars after winning 82 victories, 152 top-five finished and 166 top-ten finishes. In 2003, he won the American Speed Association "Rookie of the Year" title.

2004 was a big year for Reed Sorenson. He raced in three ARCA events in Charlotte, Michigan and Talladega. He won the ARCA race at MIS in June 2004 after only his second time in an ARCA car. He also raced in four NASCAR Busch Series races for Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates. That year, Discount Tire Co. and Chip Ganassi Racing announced they would form a partnership and they chose Reed Sorenson as their driver.

2005 was a legendary year for Sorenson. He finished the NASCAR Busch Series season in 4th place with two wins and two poles. I’ve had some great runs there in ARCA, Busch and more recently in the Cup car this past June. I know on the Cup side of things, the Target team is anxious to get back because we were a front runner there earlier this year. We know we can run just as competitive as we did earlier this summer, if not more. "

Reed Sorenson has had some great finishes in the NASCAR Busch Series this season. He is in 12th place in points standings right now. On August 5th, he finished 2nd at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
