MI. – NASCAR
Nextel Cup driver Reed Sorenson made an appearance at Discount Tire
in Ypsilanti to meet his fans and sign autographs. He will race
in the both the Carfax 250 and in the GFS Marketplace 400 races
at Michigan International Speedway this weekend.
Sorenson
was born on February 5, 1986. He is 5'10" tall and weights
165 lbs. He was forn in Peachtree City, Georgia but currently lives
in Concord, North Carolina. Ladies, he is also single! He enjoys
working out, water sports and playing video games. He enjoys listening
to country and rap music. He enjoys eating Mexican food.
Reed
Sorenson started racing back in 1992 when he was just six years
old. He raced in Quarter Midgets then. Just four years later, he
was already setting qualifying records in the East and West coast
National events in the Quarter Midgets. In 1998, Sorenson began
racing in Legends Cars where he captured 13 victories and 22 top-five
finishes.
For
the next five years, he continued racing in Legends cars and took
home many victories. In 2002, he stopped racing in Legends cars
after winning 82 victories, 152 top-five finished and 166 top-ten
finishes. In 2003, he won the American Speed Association "Rookie
of the Year" title.
2004
was a big year for Reed Sorenson. He raced in three ARCA events
in Charlotte, Michigan and Talladega. He won the ARCA race at MIS
in June 2004 after only his second time in an ARCA car. He also
raced in four NASCAR Busch Series races for Chip Ganassi Racing
with Felix Sabates. That year, Discount Tire Co. and Chip Ganassi
Racing announced they would form a partnership and they chose Reed
Sorenson as their driver.
2005
was a legendary year for Sorenson. He finished the NASCAR Busch
Series season in 4th place with two wins and two poles. He won his
first Busch Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on March 26th.
His second win came at the Gateway International Raceway in St.
Louis. On October 30th, Reed Sorenson made his NASCAR Nextel Cup
series debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Currently,
Reed Sorenson races in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series and in the NASCAR
Busch series. On his official website, ReedSorenson.com,
the driver describes MIS, "I like racing at Michigan. I’ve
had some great runs there in ARCA, Busch and more recently in the
Cup car this past June. I know on the Cup side of things, the Target
team is anxious to get back because we were a front runner there
earlier this year. We know we can run just as competitive as we
did earlier this summer, if not more. "
Reed
Sorenson has had some great finishes in the NASCAR Busch Series
this season. He is in 12th place in points standings right now.
On August 5th, he finished 2nd at Indianapolis Raceway Park. On
July 22nd at Martinsville Speedway, he finished 4th. He also finished
4th at Gateway International Raceway on July 29th.
