was a fabulous event and I’m really enjoying myself,”
said Lori Engmark of nearby Napoleon, Mich. “We
have definitely enjoyed ourselves here and have tasted
so many great wines. I have a few I plan on buying and
taking home with me tonight. It was a great day.”
President Roger Curtis and the speedway staff were thrilled
with the turnout as many wine and beer enthusiasts spent
their day at the Irish Hills track. Seeing positive growth
in the wine fest, now in its second year, is a testament
to how popular wine is in Michigan.
of the main factors in the growth of the event was a 30
percent increase in wineries and breweries year over year,
as well as a marked increase in vendors and displays.
Some of the crowd favorites included a wood carving exhibition
and the Jackson County CVB “cork toss.”
a fabulous turnout today!” Curtis said. “I
couldn’t be happier that all these people decided
to attend our event and make the Great Lakes Wine Festival
a great success. It’s a known fact that wine is
popular in our state and to see this event’s growth
year-over-year truly shows how much people enjoy wines
and beers in a unique setting like MIS. I’m very
pleased with the turnout and hope people return to their
homes and talk about coming back next year.”
