JACKSON,
Mich. -- The streets of downtown Jackson transform
into a celebration of the sport of racing for the Friday
Night Street Party. The stars of the Indy Racing League
are joined by local and regional dignitaries, community
business leaders, MIS representatives, racing enthusiasts
and others for a non-stop racing celebration, the likes
of which are unparalleled.
If you have
ever wondered what it would be like on the IRL circuit,
be sure to stop by the Racing Simulator while your kids
enjoy an area full of entertainment just for them. The
professional drivers will be on-hand for an autograph
session amidst live entertainment for the whole family
on the Live Stage. The autograph sessions will be held
from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. in Downtown Jackson.
The drivers
at the autograph session will include Indy Racing League
stars like: Marco Andretti, Ed Carpenter, Helio Castroneves,
Scott Dixon, Milka Duno, Sarah Fisher, A.J. Foyt IV, Dario
Franchitti, Sam Hornish Jr., Tony Kanaan, Buddy Lazier,
Darren Manning, Kosuke Matsuura, Vitor Meira, Danica Patrick,
Buddy Rice, Marty Roth, Tomas Scheckter, Scott Sharp,
Jeff Simmons and Dan Wheldon.
Horsepower
hits the streets with a classic car show down Michigan
Avenue. The show, which is set to be one of the largest
of the season, features cars and trucks from all eras
of the automobile industry, both street legal and track-use
only. The classic car show beings at 4:30 p.m.
Vehicles of
all makes and models, from the deuce coupes to the slammed
s10 pickups, are expected to take over Michigan Avenue
and across streets in the north and south direction. And
you can be a part of this amazing line-up! Bring your
classic ride downtown to show it off, and meet other car
collectors and enthusiasts as you and your family enjoy
the electrifying atmosphere that racing brings to Jackson.
Amidst the
exhilarating atmosphere of the Friday Night Street Party,
local teams and professional drivers get serious about
speed as they battle each other bumper-to-bumper. It’s
the Go-Kart Challenge, an event you won’t want to
miss! The Go-Kart Challenge is held from 5 p.m. to 11
p.m.
The event is
filled with dramatic twists and turns as teams attempt
to annihilate each other in heat races as they work towards
a thrilling championship race. And it all takes place
in the streets of Jackson.
The go-kart
challenge is composed of teams from the local community.
