DETROIT -- Just call Ford Field, Huskie Stadium East. The Northern Illinois University football team (12-0) is coming to the Marathon Mid-American Conference Championship for the fourth straight season. The Friday evening game on December 6, will be televised nationally on ESPN at 7:00 p.m. CST. They will face a hungry Bowling Green (9-3) squad but I am doubtful the Falcons can stop Jordan Lynch.

The Falcons have a great defense but no one has been able to stop Lynch. He should be a Heisman finalist. Lynch (Chicago Mt. Carmel) is 25-1 as starting quarterback for NIU. The Huskies have been to two Little Caesar Pizza Bowls under his run-n-gun attack. He is the real deal and as tough as they come.

For the sixth straight year, the Huskie football program is bowl eligible. Defensive halfback Jimmy Ward is another force for NIU. Ward leads the Huskies with 77 tackles and has with six interceptions.

Bowling Green will be bringing a strong crowd to Ford Field. The University is only an hour and a half drive north on I-75. "We are bringing the Orange and Brown to Detroit," Director of Athletics D. Christopher Kingston said. "We are very appreciative that our fans care so much about Falcon Football. It is indeed a great day to be a Falcon and to share in such a prideful event for BGSU."

On top of selling out of the initial ticket allotment in just two days, the Athletics Department has announced that ten fan buses have been filled for the game. BGSU will be playing in the MAC Championship and Ford Field for the first time since 2003.

On the offense front line for BGSU, the anchor is senior center David Kekuewa from Keaau, Hawaii. The Falcons defense is highlighted by a rotation of defensive ends, Ronnie Goble, Zach Colvin and Bryan Thomas.
