Pistons sneak past Bucks, 84-83
The Detroit
Pistons opened the second half of the season Tuesday winning an
84-83 nail-biter against the Milwaukee Bucks at the Bradley Center.
The Pistons
gained a substantial lead early moving the ball effectively on both
ends of the court. Chauncey Billups and Rasheed Wallace had seven
points each at the end of the first quarter.
Antonio
McDyess came off the bench scoring 10 of his 15 points in 14 first
half minutes.
The Bucks
showed signs of a comeback late in the second quarter. With the
help of former Michigan State Spartan, Charlie Bell, they ended
the third quarter with a one-point lead. Bell finished with 22 points
and seven rebounds. Ruben Patterson added 18 for Milwaukee.
Late in the fourth quarter, Billups applied pressure to Mo Williams
causing him to miss a game winning lay up. Billups led the Pistons
in scoring with 19. Williams finished with seven points and six
assists.
Michael
Redd returned to the Bucks line up scoring 17 points after missing
several weeks with a sprained left knee. Prior to his injury he
was averaging 27 points a game.
Nazr Mohammed made a showing playing five minutes and scoring five
points for the Pistons.
Richard
Hamilton had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists playing with
a jammed right ring finger that he acquired during the All Star
game this past Sunday.
The Pistons
will be visited by a few former teammates when they take on the
Orlando Magic Wednesday at the Palace. Carlos Arroyo, Darko Milicic
and Grant Hill are all expected to play for the Magic.
