Wallace sits out again as Golden
State gets first win at Palace since '93
Former Michigan
State Spartan, Jason Richardson led the Golden State Warriors in
a 111-93 victory over the Detroit Pistons Monday at the Palace.
Richardson
scored a season-high 29 points to help the Warriors end a six-game
losing streak. It was his first win as a professional in front of
a Palace crowd.
The Pistons
were up by seven with three minutes left in the first half, but
the Warriors finished the second quarter on a 15-2 run grabbing
a 61-55 lead.
Rasheed
Wallace sat out his third straight game for Detroit, watching from
the bench, as Warriors made seven of nine to start off the third
quarter, never looking back.
Golden State
guard Stephen Jackson contributed nine third quarter points to help
the Warriors gain a 17 point lead going into the fourth. He finished
with 14.
Forward
Al Harrington added 16 points and ten rebounds for Golden State.
Lindsey
Hunter came off the bench and scored 20 points for the Pistons.
Tayshaun Prince added 18.
The Warriors
finished the game shooting 54.5 percent from the field and grabbed
their first win at the Palace since 1993.
Chauncey
Billups and Richard Hamilton were held to a combined 4-9 from the
field. Hamilton finished with six points making it his first single-digit
game of the season.
Billups
and Pistons coach Flip Saunders were assessed a pair of technical
fouls late in the fourth after expressing their frustrations over
a call. Jason Maxiell received his first career technical in the
second quarter.
This was
the first of six home games for the Pistons in a brutal March schedule.
They will head to Cleveland to take on Lebron James and the Cavaliers
Wednesday.
Rasheed
Wallace is expected to play against the Cavs.
