Pistons beat Clippers 98-80;
Wallace and Hunter sit due to suspensions
The Detroit
Pistons rolled over the Los Angeles Clippers with a 98-80 victory
on Sunday.
Richard
Hamilton missed just two shots from the field and finished the game
with 23 points in 37 minutes of play.
Chauncey
Billups made a buzzer beater from mid court to end the second half,
despite a poor showing from three-point territory as of late.
The Clippers
were scoreless in the opening six minutes of the third quarter allowing
the Pistons to increase their lead to 14 by the quarter’s
end.
Clippers
coach Mike Dunleavy was ejected after receiving back-to-back technical
fouls for arguing with a referee.
Corey Maggette
led the Clippers with 19 points. Elton Brand, who missed the previous
match up due to back spasms, added 11 points and 12 rebounds for
L.A.
The Pistons
carried the lead the entire second half with the help of Chris Webber
and Antonio McDyess. Webber finished with 19 points and 11 Rebounds.
McDyess added 17 points.
The Pistons
have won 18 straight games against the Clippers.
Rasheed
Wallace was suspended for Sunday’s game without pay after
receiving his 16th technical foul in Denver on Friday. Every other
technical committed by Wallace in the regular season will result
in a one-game suspension.
The Pistons
will be in Seattle to take on the Supersonics Tuesday.
Lindsey
Hunter will stay at home while serving a 10-game suspension after
testing positive for the drug phentermine.
