Pistons Advance to the Finals
Again
It was game
seven of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The Pistons did exactly
what they needed to do. They beat the Miami Heat 88-82 in a must-win
situation.
Games 1,
2 and 3 and 7 of this series came down to the last five minutes.
They were vitually tied all along. In Game 7, the last few minutes
came down to the free-throws. Chauncey Billups had two opportunities
and got all 4 shots.
Part of
the Detroit Pistons defense job was to tire out Shaq. He is one
of Miami's star players who is very tall. When he makes a basket,
he can lightly touch it and it goes in. Towards the end of the game,
Shaq was missing his free throws and you could tell he was tired.
It seems
like the Heat let Detroit win game six just so they could take game
seven back in their hometown. Sometimes the home crowd can be an
advantage. Obviously, that tactic didn't work today.
The game
was so close you could feel the tension. Detroit had the lead during
the first two quarters. In the third quarter, the Heat led by 6
points then the Pistons came back in the 4th quarter. Several times
the game was tied then Detroit started taking the lead.
The Detroit
player of the game was Chauncey Billups who had 18 points tonight
including 4 rebounds and 8 assists. He made most of his freethrows.
The Miami player of the game was Shaq who had 27 points including
9 rebounds and 1 assist.
Thousands
of Pistons fans were watching the game on the big screen at the
Palace of Auburn Hills. For only five dollars, you can join other
Pistons fans and watch the game when our team is away on the road.
This is
the second year in a row that Detroit advances to the Finals. Last
year, they were NBA Champions. They have another opportunity to
repeat.
The Pistons
will take on the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals. That series
begins on Thursday, June 9th in Texas on ABC-TV. It is a competition
between the best Eastern Conference team vs. the best Western Conference
team.
GO
PISTONS!!!
We're
looking for a repeat...
