This year,
the Pistons didn't make it to the NBA Finals. However, they did
make it to the Eastern Conference finals where they played the Miami
Heat. The Pistons were down 3 games to 2 when they were coming into
game six.
Game six
of the Eastern Conference finals was played in Miami. The Heat has
the home crowd advantage. Shaquille O'Neal had 28 points and 16
rebounds in the game. Fellow teammate Dwyane Wade has the spend
the day in the hospital. He was in there for dehydration and flu-like
sumptons. Heat guard Jason Williams added 21 points during the game.
The Miami
Heat have never gone to the NBA Finals in Franchise history. This
will be a special time for them. They will play their first game
next Thursday. They will be playing the winner of the Western Conference
finals which will be either Dallas or Phoenix.
On a positive
note, Richard "Rip" Hamilton scored 33 points for Detroit.
The Pistons finished the regular season with the best record in
the NBA, 64 wins and only 18 losses. The Pistons had to play catch
up in the series against the Miami Heat. They had to win game six
and game seven in order to advance the Finals and they came short.
The Pistons
were down the entire game. Their closest score was being within
10 points of the Heat in the third quarter. They just couldn't surpass
the Heat. The Heat was just too hot. With someone like Shaq, it
can be hard to win. The man is like a machine. He is huge. It can
be hard to score with someone like him on the court.
There were
many celebrities in attendance at the game. Miami Dolphins coach
Nick Saban was there along with MSU men's basketball coach Tom Izzo.
Janet Jackson was also there along with chef Steve Martorano.
Tayshaun
Prince summed up Game six, "They did the right things
tonight." He added, "We played so well
on the road throughout the regular season. And to play the way we
played is beyond me."
The Pistons
entered the series against the Miami Heat being tired. They had
the start game one two days after they finished the series against
Cleveland. The Miami Heat had about a week to rest after they finished
their last series before facing the Pistons. The Heat was well-rested
while the Pistons were very tired.
GO
PISTONS!!!
Better
luck next year... |
