Titan’s won four straight games to take the 2013 Women’s
Basketball Invitational. The tourney is a post season event that
started with 16 teams. The tournament doesn’t have all the
hoopla and buzz of the NCAA ‘Big-Dance’ or even the
N.I.T. but it did give the participating Division-I squads some
extra games. The Titan’s beat McNeese State 73-62, as Detroit-Mercy
sophomore Shareta Brown led all scorers with 28 points and 14
rebounds in the championship game. It was her third double-double
of the tournament.

Seven Titan scorers contributed and it was a second half flurry
that gave Detroit the title. Detroit had a 16-2 run to start the
second half and that sealed the deal against the Cowgirls from
Lake Charles, L.A. The Titans made 7 of 12 three’s in the
second half. McNeese held a 30-28 lead at the half-time break.

Reynolds chipped in 11 and senior Yar Shayok added seven. Senior
Demeisha Fambro completed her career with five points including
an important second-half trey.

straight 20 plus win season, 21-15. The Titans were tough at home
(Calihan Hall Fieldhouse) winning 16 times for coach Autumn Rademacher.

Ashlyn Baggett and Caitlyn Baggett ending their careers leading
the way for the Cowgirls. Ashlyn finished with 22 points, making
8 of 19 from the field and 4 of 10 from behind the arc. Caitlyn
scored 16 points on 5 of 10 from the field and 4 of 5 from three-point
range and dished out eight assists. McNeese also got double figure
scoring from Cecilia Okoye who ended the game with 10 points.
fourth trey broke the Southland Conference record for career three’s
with 307, breaking the old record of 306 held by Lamar’s
Jenna Plumley. Ashlyn Baggett was a three time All-Conference
marked the third straight SLC tournament championship for McNeese
State coach Brooks Donald-Williams.
