18th Annual Ford Arts, Beats & Eats Entertainment Lineup is Jam-Packed with Prominent National and Local Acts

ROYAL OAK, MI – Now in its18th year, Ford Arts, Beats & Eats presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort will once again bring an exciting and varied lineup of national and local musical acts to the streets of Royal Oak on Labor Day weekend, September 4-7. A key attraction of the event, the festival’s “beats,” will entertain thousands of visitors from across the region with performers from nearly every musical genre. Featuring more than 200 local bands and entertainers performing for crowds on nine stages, with well-known national acts taking to the Michigan Lottery Stage, the 2015 diverse musical lineup is sure to thrill guests of all ages and musical tastes.

The Michigan Lottery National Stage features hot and breaking national performers as well as celebrated international stars. Located between Main and Center streets at 7th Street, the official list of confirmed national acts includes country music star Kip Moore (“Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck”); emerging alternative rock bands Neon Trees (“Everybody Talks”) and Young the Giant (“Cough Syrup”); world-famous rock groups Cheap Trick (“Surrender”) and The Guess Who (“American Woman”); legendary hip-hop act Salt-N-Pepa (“Push It”); and the ultimate tribute band, Beatlemania. Other scheduled national acts include rock/pop band Gin Blossoms (“Hey Jealousy”) and alternative/hard rock group Puddle of Mudd (“Blurry”), while country music is strongly represented by James Otto (“Just Got Started Lovin’ You”) and Lucy Angel (“Crazy Too”). There is also be a strong local flavor on the stage with performances by Stewart Francke, Big Pappa & The Machine, Sean Forbes, Lori Flynn, Kaleido and Your Generation in Concert featuring Fifty Amp Fuse.

Detroit’s best local entertainers will be featured on six additional music stages, with a quality mix and variety of music that is unmatched by any other festival. The local stages include the Budweiser Americana Stage, Vibe Credit Union International Stage, Ford Alternative Stage, St. John Providence Health System R&B/Jazz Stage, Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort Rock Stage, and the Arts, Beats & Eats Acoustic/Cultural Stage. Top local talent this year includes The Muggs, Orbitsuns, Taken Aces and Thornetta Davis.

The Rockstar Energy Performance Pit is sure to keep people moving, grooving and thinking throughout the weekend.  Audacious Hoops brings healthy fun to the stage on Sunday and Monday with athletic, energetic hula hoop dance exhibitions. Movement Electronic Music Festival DJs will turn up the music on Friday through Sunday nights, Motif brings its Top-40 sounds on Monday, while George Tait will bend minds with the “psychological magic” of Mind Tapped on Friday and Sunday. Local talent will have the chance to shine on Friday and Saturday during the Be a Rockstar Singing Competition.

On the Oakland County Kids Stage, audiences will enjoy fun, interactive and informative performances. The Kid’s Rock Out Street Team from Children’s Hospital of Michigan, part of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), will entertain and involve the audience with performances including hit music, games and prizes for the entire family on Friday through Sunday. Total Health Care Fun Fit Kids by Life Time Fitness features a combination of fun and fitness with top instructors from Life Time Fitness who have modified their unique cross training program, C9, with an array of activities for kids. Activities include push-ups, squats, plank holds, jumping jacks, windmills, reverse lunges, crunches and cross ski jumps. The modified version will challenge kids as they work their upper and lower bodies followed by a cardio burst and a cool down/stretch period. All participants will receive complimentary water from Aquafina.

Also bringing laughs, smiles, amazement and awe to the Kids Stage will be Rosco the Clown, Pure Imagination Magic, along with musicians, juggling acts, puppet shows, illusionists and several other kid-focused and audience interactive shows. Festival favorites, the Detroit School of Rock and Pop Music, will take to the Kids Stage every day of the festival.

Ford Arts, Beats & Eats will host nearly every musical style over the four-day weekend—from country, Caribbean, Celtic, rockabilly, and rhythm & blues to gospel, swing, rock, funk, metal, jazz and reggae. Visitors will be treated to continuous musical entertainment beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4 and culminating Monday evening, Sept. 7. Performance schedule is subject to change.
