HOLLYWOOD — On the night before the first press day of the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, GMC took the wraps off its all-new Canyon Denali and Sierra Denali pickup trucks inside Siren Studios in Hollywood. I was one of just a handful of journalists invited to cover this special event.
“There’s two very special vehicles here tonight,” said Duncan Aldred, head of Buick and GMC. “We introduced our Sierra Denali Ultimate–this is our top of the line full-size pickup truck. It has features such as 22-inch wheels, unique bedliner and many, many more features. The second major announcement we’ve got is our midsize truck, the Canyon. Today, we’ve unveiled the Denali version of the Canyon, unique wheels, side steps and many, many more features.“
The Canyon Denali will be equipped with either a 3.6-liter, V6 engine or a new 2.8-liter, Duramax turbo-diesel engine. Both will come with a Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission. It is expected to achieve a fuel economy rating of 26 mpg on the highway.

Other standard features on the Canyon Denali include forward collision alert, lane departure warning, heated steering wheel, automatic climate control, a full-color driver information center and a remote vehicle starter system. The center console will be equipped with GMC IntelliLink with Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The new pickup will be offered in six exterior colors. The interior will be outfitted with Mulan leather-appointed seats that are heated and ventilated in the front row.
Look for the 2017 GMC Canyon Denali and Sierra Denali to both go on sale in late 2016. Pricing has not yet been announced.
